Shouldn't there be two downward steps per day instead of one, thus taking into account the repetition in the title?

Good one. I can't help wondering what happens once the zigzaggy line hits 0, though. And the doctor says that you need pills & rest, mate.

Mike - A good point, though I'm making no assumptions as to exactly when the decreases occur, so I've used a histogram here, effectively putting all increases/decreases into one 24 hour "step".
Lauren Silverwolf - Perhaps each decrease should only be half the previous one, so the line would never hit 0? And then "I" will always love "you". Except that's a different song...

I think it's a flaw in the premis of the original song. Perhaps all songwriters should be made to produce one of these graphs before writing their songs?

Lauren - An excellent idea. We should have a Lord Chamberlain for the pop age to check them all. I nominate myself.

You could also reverse this graph so that the steps go up, and pass it off as tomorrow's #17. (#2, September 1989.)

Let me see, do young people twist? Being very very young (but not too young) myself, I know the answer to that question. The fact that you had to ask, however, means that you are far too much of an old fogey to be privy to that information.
Did I say privy? I meant, whatEVER!

Hello and welcome, Belle. You have pre-empted my decision to always leave them wanting more, so now it looks like I will be leaving them wanting more (except Belle).
But that was going to be the last one - for a while, at least.

Hi jeorg. No, it means nothing of the sort. I too have no idea, other than the obvious, that he loves her less every day. In most songs, he loves her more every day, so that narrows the field a little.
I'm thinking early Vera Lynn.
