Is a "large size Millennium Falcon" actually bigger than the real thing? That would explain Santacla's difficulties if so.

Will - How would that be a problem to the man who can fit down chimneys and visit every child on earth in one night?
This is the baby. I've been a good boy - can I look on eBay?

I have to admit, a friend of mine had one of those...(although this was about 15 yeears ago so it was either an old 2nd hand one or re-released version.)
But what a great present. (The letter, not the Falcon

If you liked that, then you'll love this - only marred by the incorrect spelling of millennium.

I can confirm that the originals are filed in Lapland. We took the Little Ducks there before Christmas and they were speechless when we went to Santa's office and he was reading the actual letters they'd posted the previous week. A priceless moment.
Happy New Year.

I was unable to reproduce it due to restricted margins in Blogger, but I did a great bit of hyphenation when I typed:
s-
ize
How's that for not planning ahead?
Also, the I/l explanation makes no sense when viewed in some sans serif fonts.

£80 on eBay. You could call it a slightly early present for the young'un?

What I meant to add was that the most touching and poignant element of that letter is the youthful naivety demonstrated in your belief that a letter written on 23/12, and then given to the Post Office, would ever get there on time.

I spent 7 months of 1980 working in Hamleys toy shop on Regent Street, and I have no memory of any "electronic detective games". Fischer Technik construction kits ring a vague bell, but then my specialities were Lego, Brittains (sp? CBATG) farming and military models, Playmobil, Micronauts, Pelhams puppets, and that vile stuff that you squeezed out of a tube to make balloons with, that stripped the polish off wooden furniture (we never told people that bit).

Mike - Does this jog your memory? It vaguely jogs mine, and the date certainly fits.

Salvadore - that jogs mine.
Mike - I loved that tube/chemical/balloon stuff! Went through tubes and tubes of it. Not that I was sniffiing it or anything, honest 'guv.

I think I still own a Millennium Falcon but cannot take credit as it was acquired through marriage to the original owner. It still has the weensy chess table and the landing gear that has to be lowered one leg at a time. Now I know it's worth $80 on E-Bay I shall treat it with more respect though... assuming I haven't thrown it away along with the case of Hot Wheels and the seventy-leven Transformers that no longer Transform.

How sweet. And just think - in a couple of years you'll be able to get a walking, talking Jar Jar Binks doll - for the little 'un, of course!
