I keep thinking it was Herbie Hancock, but it wasn't Rockit, so maybe it wasn't him as I can't remember him having any other big hits like that, and YouTube has got me nowhere with him. I think it was someone quite electronic/avant-garde, like Herbie Hancock, or Thomas Dolby...?
I'm not actually going to rip it off, we're just trying to do something interactive where you can make a vocal melody and the video "follows", and I just wanted to reference it so everyone knew what I meant.

Exit - No idea I'm afraid. I want to say solo male, doing good but rather experimental synth pop. Maybe early-mid 80s? Hence the fixation that it was Herbie Hancock. Or Thomas Dolby? Must have been a reasonably succesful artiste to have afforded such a video. YouTube is not yet my friend on this.
Dan - That is great. CGI has its place, but stop-frame is the best kind of animation. Though I found out the other week that the animators don't like the stage direction "The hundreds and thousands go everywhere"...
