Gravatar Today, I thanked a coworker for taking time out of a very busy schedule to answer the extremely nitpicky questions I had about this project I'm working on. I'm paid to be anal, but it was really kind of her not to blow me off because the sorts of questions I was asking were...well, they required decisions. And lots of folks don't like making decisions. So I thanked her.

I'm going to see if anyone else replies. I really like the idea of being able to express gratitude. But I do know that many of us were back from a holiday today and perhaps less grateful than other days to be at work....

Gravatar OK--here is a gratitude story, though not for a co-worker, but rather a hotel worker who was a tremendous help. While GhostGirl and I were on vacation--Universal Studios in Florida--what fun --we received some unfortunate news. One of GG's friends mother passed away and the funeral would be on the last day of our trip. After discussing it GG decided she really wanted to go...so now we had to cancel a plane flight, find a new plane, make reservations, and get GG to California...all in about 24 hours.

Of course, this being the first real vacation in 2 years for us, we left all computers at home. I went to the conceriege (sp--sorry) desk and explained our situation. The person understood and asked us to wait a minute--she came back and presented us with a new room key--except this gave us access to the executive suite floor of the hotel, which includes a lounge with computer, Internet, and printer...so we were able to go to the lounge and take care of everything, even printing our itinerary.

When we finished, we made sure to go back to the person who helped us, waited an additional 10 minutes just to say Thank You.

We had a great stay at the on-site hotel (run by Loew's) and recommend the Loew's hotels based on this experience--they are people and animal friendly! They put out water dishes for stray cats on their property, encourage people to bring their pets, and provide room service for pets (I know it sounds funny, but they provide pet foood, water dishes, and pet beds)--we thought this was really cool.

Gravatar I trust you guys had a nice vacation pre-death. Well, you know what I mean. I'm about to leave to see GhostGirl.

That's a really nice gratitude story. I've found that some hotels can be just awesome, especially with special needs. I had to rent a projector at the Hilton in Sacramento a couple of months ago and they were extremely helpful with my AV needs.
