Gravatar I always carry a small laminated printed icon. Usually of St. John the Baptist. Like a Greek Orthodox baseball card.

Oh, and black wool blend socks. They wear well and rinse out beautifully.

But please tell me you don't take that hot pot when you can take an Bodum Mini Ibis.

Gravatar Oh, my, Scott. That is a lovely petite device, which I just added to amazon shopping cart. Thank you. Now if you could only fix the suit...

Gravatar I try not to travel without at least one squishy feather pillow from home to put on top of the usually cardboard-like hotel pillows. And also something to do with my hands, like a small needlework project or some yarn and a crochet hook.

Gravatar My husband. Also, comfortable shoes.

Gravatar Jess, can you take needlework or crocheting on a plane? Or does it have to fit in luggage? I like the idea of having something to do with my hands.

And GhostGirl, it's all about comfortable shoes. You actually don't know how funny that is given what I'm writing in fiction right now....

Gravatar Great question! I have to have Emergen-C packets,a warm, soft wrap of some kind for the plane, and rose water spray for my face.

Gravatar Yes, you can take crochet hooks on the plane. I think knitting needles are still forbidden. I doubt they would let you take sewing needles. But check with the airline. I spent one 7 hour flight crocheting most of the time and almost finished my baby blanket. It was great.

With the invention of the very portable MP3 players, I find that my ipod nanno had been a boredom saver. And no big bundle of CDs to carry with me! Books are great and I always bring too many.

Gravatar Kaye, I would love to have a portable MP3 player. That's a great idea.

And, PeaceBang, those Emergen-C packets are amazing!
