Gravatar Same thing happen to me here in NYC. I feel like I ate twins.

Gravatar Uh, actually organic and free range fed hens are MORE likely to double yolk because they're healthier and getting better diets. On a related note, don't buy into this whole "vegetarian-fed hens" thing. Free range eggs are better because the hens are eating, among other things, a wide variety of insects. Insects have loads of protein. Higher protein diet, higher protein content and quality eggs. Way better than Henrietta on the vegetarian farm who's just getting grain.

Gravatar There's a Whole Foods in Connecticut?!? No way!

Gravatar Just bought a box of eggs at Whole Foods Supermarket in Connecticut. 10 out of 12 in the box had double yolks.

Gravatar Young hens often lay eggs with double yolks. You probably got a batch of eggs from a flock of young chickens newly committed to a life of slave-labor egg-laying.

Gravatar wow - my life is so dull by comparison

Gravatar Hi! I love your blog and have been rather (ahem, mumbles) obsessively checking to see what's been new over in your neck of the woods. I'd also like to weigh in on the chicken thing - I HAD chickens forever as a kid, and they were fed exclusively on our (healthy) tablescraps. We had lots of double-yolked eggs - it was just because they were very healthy! No worries... I also notice via your pic that the yolk was nice and dark - the more orangey the better, not those pale, lemon colored things you get at some stores!

Eggcellent! sorry...couldn't help it! (and I hate eggs, BTW) MLH

Gravatar You probably have a point. A whole dozen of double yolks is rather disturbing.

Gravatar Well, Natalie, I'm no chicken reproduction scholar, but I do know this:

1 double yolk in dozen = rare, but normal. And delicious.

11 double yolks in dozen = chickens pumped full of freaky fertility drugs that I would rather not consume.

Gravatar A double yolked egg doesn't necessarily mean your eggs are full of chemeicals. The yolk is the product of ovulation. So when an egg has two yolks it just means that two follicles realeased eggs, which happens in humans too. Its how non-identical twins are made. A chickens reproductive cycle is stimulated by day length and if the day length a chicken is exposed to increases too drastically it can cause a large estrogen rush which in turn causes two follicles to ovulate. I just happened to be studying chicken reproduction today and I thought I would spread some knowledge. It makes me feel smart.

Gravatar I checked the box after the third double yolk and it didn't say anything about it being all double yolks. It just said "Grade AA Large." Is that code for double yolk and I didn't know?

And no, I don't know what's going on in the last frame, but for the flower to be in front of Anna's head like that she would have to be standing in the center of the table. Apparently, altering matter to make this possible has the side effect of giving you man hands.

Gravatar what the-? the last frame of that comic is SO weird. yes, the flower...bwuh? but that hand! is that her hand? or is someone about to gag her? CRAZY!

Gravatar The double yolks are freaky. It could possibly be a sign. especially if you have seen any of Revelations on NBC...

Gravatar I know as a fact that supermarkets sell double yolked eggs sometimes, but they cost more because of the double yolk. And then there are places (I swear) where they sell triple yolked eggs, but then that would be a lot more expensive, wouldn't it?
So yeah, you probably just bought a double-yolked egg box without even knowing it.

Gravatar God, that is a stupic comic strip.

Also, when your double kidnaps you and hides you in a well in the desert and takes over your life, will she continue your blog?

Gravatar So would ER's identical twin be Good Roommate...?

Gravatar You know, I got a carton of orgainic, farm fresh, local eggs one time that had all double yolks. Maybe it's just something certain chickens do?

Gravatar Freaky double yolks are why I started buying organic eggs.
