Hey, I was just randomly going to peoples blogspots and I came across this entry. I'm so very sorry for your loss, for you see, I've had a Powerbook stolen in a house break-in also.

i'm so sorry to hear about that - i know the feeling, as it happened to me two years ago. i'm hoping the police were kinder and less stupid for you than they were for me. i was living in a dorm, my locked door was kicked in and the interior of the frame was destroyed - the police told me after the dorm installed a padlock on the exterior of my door that i would be safe to sleep in my room that night - right - was i supposed to get someone to lock me from the outside? be safe and good luck.

I'm a fan of your TWoP work, so I saw the robbery thing there first. That really sucks! I can't imagine how violated I would feel.
Not to belittle the awfulness of getting robbed, but I have a (random) question for you. In a recap recently you mentioned going on a blackbean soup bender in college. The college I go to also has amazing black bean soup. I saw that you used to live on the east coast (where my college is) and wondered where you got said black bean soup (where you went to school?). I would like to compare and contrast.

That's horrible! I'm so sorry to hear that. But I'm so glad you weren't home and weren't harmed. Enjoy that shiny new iPod...those always make me happy!

Sara, I'm so sorry to hear that. Glad you are well. And hopefully they didn't get anything hard to replace. (Expensive to replace, I know, is a whole other story.)

Man, that sucks. I am glad you're okay though.
While you're at it, please consider investing in a shiney new home security system and, if you're comfortable with the idea and have time to get some training, also in a not quite as shiney, but very distracting, home defense shotgun.
Home invasions are scary and usually don't and well. Better be safe than sorry.

WHOA! My car was stolen once...that's about as close as I can get to this. IF I had had RENTERS insurance the contents IN the car would have been covered, how random is THAT (also, I did not have insurance)... LA me, indeed!

Dude, that totally blows. But at least you have shiny new things; that stuff doesn't blow as hard. Does this mean we get a brand new House recap on your shiny new thing? I'm all shiny new excited.

Oh my God, the exact same thing happened to my husband and I this past summer (3 days before my birthday, incidentally), lost laptops and all. We also did not have renters insurance. I sympathize with you, completely and totally. I hope you enjoy your new toys - for us it was the one silver lining in an incredibly sucky situation.

Note to Morgan: Renters insurance should cover those items - the sucky part (might be, depends on the policy) that its only good up to certain limits for things like shiny new computers and the like. Sara - tell us you have renters' insurance, right?
The sad reason I know this... In another life, I managed an insurance brokerage for about five years, so I know boring things like that. Note to everyone: Its usually between 150-300ish a year, which is less than a dollar a day. Oh crap, now I sound like Sally Struthers, but... trust me (and Sara) ITS WORTH THE MONEY!

Wow, that really sucks. I imagine it's awful to come home to destruction like that...it really is a good thing you weren't home at the time.

Oh man, that sucks. I hope you at least had renter's insurance. Does that cover robbery? Glad you weren't home when it happened!
