Loved Unsticky. It's really really hard to decide which is my fave Manning book now! LGL, Irina, Candy...and now Unsticky (I've read every Manning book I could get my hands on.) Just too hard! Does anyone know if the next grown up book is going to be Unsticky's sequel?? I read it was going to be called Lightweight...

This may be a dumb question but I can't think of anyone else to ask. So, what kind of influence over books do editors actually have?
Because I always assumed it was basic stuff like checking for continuity or saying that the pacing was off or that certain sections may not make sense.
But I have heard authors talking about editors saying that things had to be changed like "you should make the characters have sex in this book" or "you should change the characters reason for doing such and such."

I can understand editors saying things should be changed because they think readers won't like/understand it but telling them what to actually change it to seems to me like too much control. How much of the story then becomes the editors and not the authors?

Or am I just being strangely sensitive thinking about this?

Gravatar I finished unsticky last night and fell in love with it. It was just what i was in the mood for. I went to the bookstore today to find another great book to follow my weekend of reading unsticky, but couldn't find anything to follow up such a great book.
Can't wait for your next adult book hope it comes out soon.

Gravatar Sarra, I just want to tell you that Let's Get Lost is one of my favourite books. I must've read it a dozen times and the last few chapters have me in floods of tears every single time. I'm almost 21, so you're certainly not just affecting the teen audience! I love your work and will be picking up Unsticky soon. Hope you're well.

Gravatar Hi, I'm reading Unsticky at the moment because I first fell in love with your books "Diary Of A Crush" and couldn't help but see certain similarities between "Vaughn" and "Carter, and Dylan" was this done purposely or not? I do like how you have locations, and people described so we can get a more full image of them.

Like I said, I love your books. You're one of my many inspirations as to why I want to become an author -- I'm 15, almost 16 and have just left school and Diary Of A Crush made me actually think that Edie was a real person just by the way that you described her and her friends.

I really wish you’d do a novel with Carter in because even though he was the bad guy I couldn't help but love him and he's one of those characters that have things all organised and planned out -sigh- I just liked him, and he sounded hot, lol.

Erm, I was also hoping you'd email me back (email is at top) because I have so many questions about been an author and the steps it takes, right now I've just done my GCSE's and I'm hoping for a C in English because that's all I was capable of getting in my test so I know I won't be able to do my A-levels until next year if I re-take my GCSE English. But, yes, please email me back as I'd love to talk to you

Kimberley.

Gravatar Hey Sarra!
I just found your blog although I've known about you since I was about 13, when I first began reading your diary of a crush series, which was so so fun to read-I really enjoyed them. I'm actually trying to write a novel now with my friend, we've just begun-do you have any worthwhile advice?

thanks for keeping us little people entertained.
=]

Gravatar When is Nobody's Girl going to be coming out? It sound stunning already!

Gravatar I've not been on this blog for a few months, but I just thought I'd tell you that after a massive whirlwind of A-level stress and no free time and blah and junk, I've found the time to read again! I think somewhen back in April I was waiting with baited breath for Unsticky to come out, and then everything else came along and I completely forgot until I was in WHSmiths the other day after one of those really bad I-have-money-and-I-can't-find-anything-I-want-to- buy shopping trips and I found Unsticky - admittedly, just a LITTLE bit late after the release date. x] 36 hours afterwards I'd read it, loved it, and caught up on your blog: I can't wait for the new stuff (not as much into the teen fiction any more but I'm still going to read it anyway. =] ) Also, thank you for the Dove piece because it's seriously amazing, particularly when I have a birthday in 2 days that I want to slim down for but can't seem to pass up the chance for an Indian takeaway. Damn.

Haha, that was a rant. The general point I was going for originally is simply: thanks Sarra

Gravatar ... oh, and just in case you were wondering, LOL - I've had my birthday now. And I so didn't slim down. I was the girl with the most cake. ;] Now THAT'S girl power. Or something...

xD
