Gravatar Malarkey? Oh... Mukasey

Gravatar Interesting yes...here's hoping he's not a toady jerk like all the others.

Gravatar He's had a few good moments, yes. More than you can say about his possible future boss.

Ain't saying much, is it? We'll see.

Gravatar From everything I have read by people that have appeared in his court he is a true conservative and truly believes in the rule of law. If he is, as so many describe, a true man of the law then I would have to believe he would at least bring back honesty to the DOJ.

Gravatar Steve - Someone turned me on to The Anonymous Liberal blog. He has a post up about the Attorney General nomination:

http://www.anonymousliberal.com/

I think his site is comparable to Glenn Greenwald's and worth checking out on a daily basis.

Gravatar sumo - at this point, I'd settle for an old-fashioned conservative in the AG position. Who knows if Mukasey is that... and who knows if he can be confirmed, or will have his nomination withdrawn due to pressure from Bush's conservative base.

andante - you're right. It ain't saying much. I don't doubt Bush has an ulterior motive (see my update to this post), but Mukasey doesn't seem like the type to strike a deal with the preznit to cover potential criminal activity. Time will tell.

Fallenmonk - a depoliticized DoJ would be a victory not just for Democrats, but for all of America. Bush's DoJ up to this point has been one of the scariest aspects of his reign.

Sandy-LA, thanks; I've updated to point to the link you provided.

Gravatar damn it, you do this conspiracy-theory stuff better than i do. i'm jealous.

Gravatar hipparchia - I don't know if I believe that one or not. But I did literally wake up to that thought sometime during the night. I hate always having to assume the worst about these people... but they've earned our mistrust. Big-time, as Cheney might say.
