Gravatar CA Court Shuts Down Wikileaks US Site

Gravatar It was a series of documents about a Swiss bank that caused the judge to shut down the site through the ISP. The claim is made based on "trade secrets" not national security.

Gravatar Duly noted; about to post correction. Not sure I saw it as a national security matter but rather a First Amendment issue.

Gravatar National security is about the only way you can possibly trump free speech, other than protecting corporations.

Gravatar Bryan, the interests protected by the Bill of Rights are of course always in conflict with each other, and I believe I've always understood that there are some things that may not be spoken or published.

But for about 15 years or so, from the beginning of the public use of the term "globalization," I've come to realize that from the viewpoints of the trade associations like NAFTA, the interests of international corporations often supersede even the fundamental documents of many nations. When it became apparent that the actual implementation of NAFTA's charter took precedence over the laws and even constitutions of member nations including the U.S., that's when I began to realize that I truly oppose the neocons' version of "globalization."

This, of course, has nothing to do with national security for the U.S., except to the extent that international trade organizations can force the U.S. to engage in behaviors toward its own citizens that are inimical to their rights, liberties, and economic interests. IMHO, the Bill of Rights applies to me, NAFTA etc. be damned.
