Gravatar The bathroom element is huge. Also, try propping him on his side. It helps. I know.

Gravatar How scary for both of you. Poor guy.

Gravatar OMG, you are dredging up my past! When my sister was a kid and she saw the Thriller video for the first time (I think she was 6 or something), she had recurring night terrors. every. single. night. for a year.

It would happen every night at around midnight and she would come tearing into my room, screaming for me, saying "where is she, where is she?!". Crying, screaming and waling. I myself was a 10 year old kid and it would scare the crap out of me that my sister couldn't see me even though I was standing right in front of her saying "I'm here, I'm here, it's ok". My mom would just hold her and smooth her back and say "sshhh, it's ok" in her most soothing voice and just sing lullabyes to her to calm her down until she collapsed in a sweat and put her back to bed. Finally, my sis saw the "making of" the thriller video, and from there on...no more night terrrors.

My cousin also had recurring night terrors around 5-6 years old about Spiderman coming to get her through the walls. Same screaming scenario.

The reason I mention this is that in both cases, it involved superhero/scary bad guy type stuff. Maybe sometimes kids are being exposed to stories and concepts they don't fully understand or can cope with ? I don't know, I'm just throwing this out there for you to mull over. I hadn't thought about this stuff in over a decade. Maybe if Batman is involved in his night terrors, maybe there is something about the stories that are stressing him out???? No idea. I'm not at that stage yet with mine. We're still at Winnie the Pooh and Thomas the Tank...Good luck...

Gravatar thanks for he tip on the bathroom. K is having nightmares but also has some symptoms similar to those you describe here. *I* get scared thinking about her thrashing and her heart pounding.

Gravatar Reese had mild night terrors when she was 2...same thing...calling out for me and never seen me right in front of her. its pretty scary for both parties...hopefully they don't last long! he's luck to have such a patient and caring mommy
