CAITI - ONLINE - MEDIA

Im not sure why you keep beating this dead horse. The Cons broke an election promise..yep. And, if the Ontario election is any indication, or Mr Chretien's " I will cut the GST if elected" then Mr Harper can look forward to a majority. Other than partisans and bloggers, how much more proof do you need that voters dont really care about broken promises.

I have been looking for info on the Calgary protest, have not found any thing as of yet.Hope it went well, thank you!

billg,

I wonder if Canadians are concerned about foreign entities buying up Canadian resource companies like PrimeWest Energy Trust and Transalta LP. Probably not eh?

Canadians would rather have foreign big money profit from Canadian non-renewable resources that are going up in value. Canadians aren't interested in profiting in these resources themselves.

And Canadians are probably equally unconcerned about the real tax losses this Harper policy has caused.

According to the CAITI ad about $2 billion in corporate tax losses already from the takeover deals to date.

Conservatives and NDP supporters were jumping up and down about tax leakage last year when this was introduced but now that it has proven to be terrible policy CONs conveniently forget why the Trust double-taxing was brought forward in the first place. Why is that?

Afraid of being proven wrong? Afraid of admitting the CONservative's Flaherty couldn't find his a$$ with both hands?

All I see is downside for the CONservatives on this issue and upside for anyone else who supports reversing the policy. That includes the Liberals, Green Party, and Bloc who support changes that allow the Canadian small investor to profit from Canadian resource and business trusts.

Back to you...

I found this about the Calgary event

Investors Protest On 1-Year Anniversary Of Income Trust Announcement

CALGARY/AM770CHQR - Angry investors gathered outside the Prime Minister's constituency office in southwest Calgary to speak out about the Harper government's plan to tax income trusts.

It was a peaceful demonstrations, but the words used were not peaceful.
Demonstrators called the federal Tories "crooks" over broken promises on the income trust taxation issue. Many say the prime minister lied about not touching their income trusts.
One woman says she travelled all the way from Vancouver to take part in the rally, because it not only effected her, but her husband, kids, and grandchildren.

One man was in the Halloween spirit, wearing a devil's mask and claiming to be Finance Minister Jim Flaherty.

but but but the man in the suit running for a political position said something and I believed every word, thats not fair. Well thats life and since it's mostly the older crowd who was heavily invested you would think they would be used to not getting what their told.
