America, as wonderful as it is in many ways, is flat out scary. I live in a border city, in the constant shadow of America. We are as much a burb of that city as we are our own Canadian city and the influence is strong. For the first time in our history we now have armed guards on our side of the border. Personally, I find it a little unnerving rather than comforting to be living so close to the feet of the giant.

You're so right... that while there are many good things about the USA, there are many disturbing events in modern history.
