Gravatar Don't forget H.R. Pufnstuf.

Gravatar I've no problem with Pete "Poodle" Carroll continuing to hold Asshat of the Week honors. But is it possible to name the 2007 version of the Fighting Irish "football" team Asshat of the Year? Or is that sacrilege?

Gravatar 1.you sure do have the asshat of this decade correctly identified.

2.however, you have missed the asshats of this season.very one of the nd bashing hack writers( only joe doyle has refused to join in with the sbt) hacks at the south bend tribune.

3. after all, the sbt hacks did end up in dead heat for both the josef goebbels and and pravda awards for dishonest and vicious sports reporting which have included, among other things, taking cheap shots at charlie's 13 year old son.

4. after the same sbt hacks drove notre dame into firing tyrone in a vicious manner, instead of letting the man resign with dignity, those sbt hacks have operated on the extremely incorrect asumption that they have the power and influence to get any notre dame coach fired.

5. there was no one even close to the sbt hacks for both prizes since no other group of media hacks gained access to notre dame by pretending to be friends of notre dame and then using that position of trust to stab notre dame in the back.

6. past winners of the josef goebbels and pravda awards have included ivan maisel of espn.com, stewart mandel of sports illustrated, saddam hussein, ahmadinejob of iran, hugo chavez of venezuela, the jerk who runs north korea. and some key players in the inquistion and in attempted genocide of the irish race.

7. multiple pictures would seem appropriate for te asshat of the month award.

8. never have so few people done more damage to notre dame and to so many people all over the world as the sbt hacks.

have a nice day,

bob gilleran

Gravatar Seriously Bob, let us know what you think about the sportswriters at the South Bend Tribune.

Gravatar 1. Robert T. Gilleran is awesome.

2. Seriously awesome.

3. His lists are awesome.

Gravatar 1. I think now that I have seen Robert T. Gilleran's lists

2. I am going to start a new trend in my life where I break up all of my paragraphs and sentences

3. Into clearly numbered bullet points. Because doing this will obviously have a positive outcome on my

4. Way of thinking and overall level of

5. Awesomeness.

6. I'm ready to kick some serious

7. Ass and take some names.

Gravatar I'm starting to admire Robert T. Gilleran and his ability for not letting facts get in the way of a good argument.

Gravatar Charlie should probably be put to pasture:

"PERPLEXING NUMBERS

Maybe the most indicting numbers regarding Notre Dame’s pass protection, or lack thereof, this season came the week after the Irish lost to Navy in triple-overtime. In the 48-46 loss to the Mids, ND yielded four sacks to a team that had recorded only five all season. That gave the Irish 49 sacks yielded — 11 more than the old school record.

So maybe Navy was just finding itself in the pass-rush department?

Well, the next week the Mids played North Texas, the worst Football Bowl Subdivision team in the Sagarin computer and one of 32 the Irish actually would beat, according to Sagarin (no, Duke and Stanford are not on the list of beatable teams).

In the North Texas game, Mean Green quarterback Giovanni Vizza attempted 50 passes and was not sacked once. What’s more, in the 72-62 loss to the Mids, he completed 40 of those passes for 478 yards and eight touchdowns — and he rushed for 97 yards on 13 carries.

And Vizza, for the record, is a true freshman."
