I don't know if it's lack of motivation, lack of discipline, whatever it is it seems to fall back to coaching. About the only thing that could buy him more grace with me is to win the rest of the games (except USC), and win a bowl game. He's got mad skills recruiting, but I've yet to be overpowered by his coaching prowess.
I don't know if you can simply sum up the problem as coaching. I'd put the blame on the relative lack of running game--yes, which does reflect on coaching.
