Gravatar I think we may see more 3-4 D.I think with some good Line backers & LB coaching (TENUTA) it is the best way to put more pressure on the QB and get more 3 & out which we MUST have being that shallow on the line.

Gravatar Don't forget about Hafis Williams, Brandon Newman, Paddy Mullen, Kallen Wade, and Emeka Nwankwo. Emeka and Newman could provide excellent depth to the D-Line and might not be as bad as you thought.

Gravatar Matt- I don't think they're bad at all. Williams and Newman could very well end up being tremendous defensive tackles, but not as freshmen. Wade and Nwankwo are totally unproven, and while I hope they'll step up this year, no one has a clue.

Gravatar Quick bone to pick... while talking about the backup safeties, you mention Hunter Smith. Don't you mean Harrison Smith, out of Tenn.?

Gravatar Yeah, I did mean Harrison Smith. Good catch.

Gravatar Last year, CW struck early in the recruiting race and landed a bumper crop. This year, people like USC, Texas and others are already making great headway with highly rated recruits. ND has nobody as far as I can see. What's up with that?

Gravatar It's been less than a month since NLOI day. No big deal. Notre Dame didn't really get a lot of it's marquee committs of this class for a few months.

Gravatar Great point about our thin D-Line next year. What opposing teams return a strong running game?

I can see those opponents taking apart our 3-4 by running right at our weak D-Linemen (You're right - one injury along the D-Line and we're especially vulnerable). Then, we become a 4-3 with linebackers cheating up to stop the bleeding.

Gravatar The line does look weak. My dream would be a couple Beast of Linemen overlooked walk on.

Gravatar lol, hunter smith. "hunter the punter" haha
