I think Sean mentioned at the beginning of the season that it was terrible how easy WestVa and tOSU made their schedules this year. After LOSING A GAME in those schedules, it's just pathetic that they're still in the national championship hunt. But all the 2+ loss teams show that there's no benefit to scheduling interesting games. Flippin' Kansas was one win away from a title.
Something needs to change in the current system to severely penalize pathetic schedules.
The problem with it, really, is ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and sports writers in general. It's not just about reporting the games, of course, it's about PREDICTING. Turn on ESPN on any given afternoon and you have 3 shows in which people "debate" topics that are absolute opinions.
These guys want to seem smart and so having a (particularly well-disguised) weak schedule BENEFITS you in the polls, because these guys want to be right when they say that Team X is going to go undefeated. tOSU's biggest OOC game this year was WASHINGTON!?! And its biggest in conference game was against a team that lost to Applachian State!?
I just don't understand why there isn't more outrage that they're a strong, strong possibility for the national championship game.
And yeah...I think my preseason prediction was 9-3. Must've been a temporary case of dyslexia.
We will see. If none of the tradional powers enter the BCS this yea and say a ho hum cansis... TV ratings determine it. I think it's all the BCS death knell. I thi nk all would tune into an OSU Vs USC but West Va and who? Scuzza me I ZZZZZZZZZZZ
