Totally agree... D-IAA games should not count towards bowl eligibility.
Also, I absolutely hate that people rip on us for playing Navy every year, despite the fact that Navy is a respectable team. No one rips on us for playing Stanford, even though Stanford is significantly worse than Navy.

Duke's actually expected to be better this year... Better, not great.
And I hear that William & Mary is an utter force in football these days

Luke, do they have a new coach or something? I think I remember hearing that.

First I think putting Rutgers in this argument is a bit unfair. Until last year Rutgers had been dismal so when they were making out the schedule a couple years ago they were clearly not expecting to be coming off their best season in history. There are tons of bad D-I teams scheduling I-AA teams and up until last year, Rutgers was a member of this group.
Besides that there are probably a handful of I-AA teams that could beat several D-I teams. App St, YSU and UMass would all probably beat Tulane, Utah State, Duke, Idaho and Louisiana Tech which show up on those still dignified schedules. Every big team schedules easy teams because it's mutually beneficial. There's not a huge difference between a good I-AA team and a bad IA team.

my alma mater, Tennessee Tech, is going to take it to Auburn. We are a powerhouse.
In fact, when I first got to campus as a freshman, the HC asked me to walk-on to the team as a backup QB (guaranteed 3rd string) since i was a pretty decent HS pitcher, had a strong arm, and wasnt playing college ball. It's sad since I only played one year of peewee football.
I mean... this is the kinda of competition that Auburn has scheduled. Give me a break.

Some of these schools also have scheduled some very formidable opponents as well. Michigan, for example, scheduled Oregon. OSU has scheduled USC, Miami, Cal and Va Tech home-and-homes over the next 8 years. I think it's unrealistic to expect these teams who already have 8 games scheduled for them to schedule 4 other top-ranked teams. I think the one premier team with 3 relative pushovers is a good formula going into the conference schedule.
