The large number of illegals looking for work causes an employers' market for low-wage workers. That drives wages way down, so Americans might not want to take the jobs. That's especially true because many of the jobs illegals compete for involve hard and menial-labor.
I've followed this issue with some interest for several years. I don't recall anyone ever claiming illegals are taking jobs away from middle class American workers in any significant numbers.

Scott has a habit of posting misinformation and making claims that are either impossible to prove or outright lies. Don't be surprised by anything you read on this blog. He is basically shameless.

The willingness of Americans to do a job depends on how much that job pays — and the reason some jobs pay too little to attract native-born Americans is competition from poorly paid immigrants."

I love the welfare crack. Yesterday I saw a car with an anti welfare bumpersticker pull into the local welfare office (I assume to recieve help). FYI most people are on welfare fore under 18 months and despite stereotyping the average welfarte recipient is a newly single white woman with 2 kids living in the 'burbs. Not the stereotypical black or hispanic person just living on the dole their whole lives (that person is in the welfare minority)
