You're totally right, and I'm not completely clear on how to combat his lazy unapologetic argument for using sexist and racist slurs, except perhaps something like this:
What if I started calling your mom "your toilet"? After a while, you might learn that the word "toilet" used in this sense doesn't mean the place where I eliminate bodily waste, and you might even accept that in this sense I'm not even being insulting—I'm just changing the meaning of the word. But other people hearing me, even if they knew how much I love and respect your mom, would be justifiably confused about why I would use a word that sounds so insulting to refer to your mom, when I could just call her "your mom." People who didn't know how much I love and respect your mom would have every reason to think that I didn't love or respect your mom at all. And there is no way in hell that my use of the word "toilet" to refer to your mother would have any effect whatsoever on the meaning of "toilet" as it is used by every other English speaking person on the planet.

"It's my opinion that it's also totally unrealistic to think that one, non-famous, whitemaledude has that much influence over how minority slurs are heard."
Have you considered that maybe the whole world revolves around him? In that case, this opinion would be false. :P
