I think writing letters is a good action. If the defense for this usage is that the story is about alleged behavior then we need to remind them that using the word sex to describe what is alleged as rape is accepting the defendant's counter allegation as fact.

I think you and abyss2hope make excellent points.
I imagine you're not a Catherine MacKinnon fan (nor am I), but I've always thought her argument about how the male/patriarchal point of view is embedded in rape law is interesting. As she points out, the entire system operates on the premise that consent is inferred. i.e.male sexual access to women is only limited by the law when there is evidence of more than "normal" amount of force.
So you disagree with McKinnon's critique of liberal feminism's claim that rape is violence, not sex?

As I'm sure you know, McKinnon famously critiques liberal feminism for arguing that rape is not sex but violence. I'd be curious about your thoughts on this if you're so inclined!
