Chris, awesome that you're in Africa! Your description of the "surreal" feeling is apt. The disorientation one feels/suffers when depart the cabin of an aircraft into the air of another continent is truly a bizarre experience—it’s as if it the bubbles of expectation and trepidation bursts and you find yourself scrambling to translate all the input from your senses into some sort of visceral language you can relate to.
