Talk Back!

Glad you've got the pawn off down too Isn't it fun to be a slacking lazy ass? hehe

Gravatar I was reading along thinking, "She's done a lot in pastel blues & purples lately!" And then you say:

Am I the only one noticing a color theme here?

Gravatar Ooooh! I would have to recommend La Knitterie Parisienne: http://www.laknitterieparisienne.com/ it's in Studio City, and is amazing. They've got yarns, yarns and more yarns. They're always a bit crowded, so it requires some patience, but it is well worth it. Oh, one more thing, they don't have any prices on the yarn, but their shop personnel are always happy to answer any questions or help you find something. It's my fave LA store!

Gravatar oooh, or Stitches In Time in Bellflower. It's not so fancy as LKP, but it's still a great store with good prices and very friendly personnel

Gravatar How about kntting leper bandages? Hansen's disease is an easily curable disease in Western countries but in Asia it is often not caught until it it too late. Lepers are treated as outcasts even by their own families. And with the tsunami and monsoon season starting these bandages will be needed. If you do a search for leper bandages you will find the pattern and an address to send them to.

Gravatar I love The Knit Cafe on Melrose just east of LaCieniga. Everyone is so nice and so helpful. There is always a lot of inspiration on display or being knit by other customers!

Gravatar Well, La has raved about LKP (and one day I'll go there and check out the Koigu). There's Wildfiber in Santa Monica, after which you can go to the pier for lunch.

Gravatar Inknitters has charity knitting booklets available for download on their site.
http://www.inknitters.com. Maybe that can help...

Gravatar Do you realize that I have never seen and fondled a skein of Koigu or any other Noro yarn? Isn't that sacriledge?!!? We must fight back! Let me SWIM in Koigu! BWAHAHAHAH!

-only a little crazy-

Gravatar ergh.. that should have read "any of the Noro yarns".

It's almost 5, it's almost 5.

Gravatar You could make chemo hats, especially chemo hats for children to give to charity. Head huggers has lots of chemo hat patterns, and bev's county cottage has tons of crochet patterns for children's chemo hats.

Gravatar I'm all for hats for any of LA's homeless or chemo hats for anyone fighting a medical battle. Everyone I know who's gone through chemo or a bone marrow transplant has commented on how sensitive her head's been. A pretty chemo hat for an adult or a whimsical one for kids -- with a handwritten note of suppport -- could make a huge difference. Whatever you do, the love will come through in the handmade nature of the gift.

Gravatar ok, the Koigu at LKP is in the right hand secion of the store, in one of the middle columns first set of cubbies, towards the bottom. There might be a box of "other" yarn in front of it, don't let that disuade you. And if you don't see what you want there, they might still have some in the back, ask them to bring it out. They have both Kersti and KPPM. Their prices on the Koigu are VERY reasonable.

Naw, you can't tell I go there often, now can you?
