Talk Back!

Gravatar Weekend Knitting has a beautiful pattern for knitted pillowcases. It's a combination of a regular store-bought or home-made pillowcase of fabric, plus knit lace near the open edge. Assembly sounds like something of a pain, but they really are pretty.

Gravatar well... you could hire me to make their guest book for their wedding.

Gravatar Esther had the same idea I did! I think knitted pillow cases are nice - and with all the soft yarn available these days, they should be great for weekend naps and late night movie snuggling. Otherwise, I think it's also Weekend Knitting that has the washcloths - a matching set for some communal marital showers? Just a thought...

Gravatar That game looks so funny! It's adorable that Panda has good friends and gets excited like that. No good ideas here, sorry.

Gravatar That is SO awesome that they are all friends. Doggy friends are important. We tried to introduce a new friend to Bella and Chili this weekend -- a sweet German Shepherd named Sadie -- and Bella decided that she WANTED TO KILL SADIE. OVER AND OVER. Grrrowwll. So we took Bella out of the dog run and the meeting went a little better....

I think the pillowcases are a great idea. Wine carrier? How about an embroidered tea towel from Sublime Stitching?

Gravatar Crocheted or knitted, I don't know which would be better or easier....My sister-in-law and her husband were given for their wedding an ivory rectangular "doily" that spells out their new joint last name. I know you said they weren't doily people, but this simple piece looks amazing framed with chocolate-brown matting behind it and has stayed nicely intact after 11 years, whereas a blanket or often-used item might wear poorly. You could design it any way you pleased, but theirs is a lacey/openwork background with rather tight stitching to create the letters.

Gravatar fibertrends has a pattern for lacey washcloths and soap holders (not sure if they kinda fall under the doily category). similar to the pillow cases you could use the edgings or insets in towels. or do a full linen set including a sheet done the same as the pillows. if knitting the edgings will take too long you could crochet them, too.

or, what about a few pretty throw pillows to match either their living room or bedroom?

Gravatar Re a present, one thing I have been thinking about making for myself is a wall hanging, from big, nubbly, organic yarn, knit with a wandering vine and leaves pattern. Definitely on the granola side, though, don't know how your friends rate on the granola scale

Gravatar I always knit Christmas stockings for newlyweds. I found a pattern that has a place for their names and the year of their first Christmas together. Everyone I've made them for loves them. Jane

Gravatar Weird similarities! I just got engaged on Christmas to my boyfriend whom I've lived with for 7 years. We're eloping in February to a surprise (to me) location, but I'm suspecting Hawaii, then having a party to celebrate in June or July. How freakin weird is that? We help with Great Dane rescue, though my family always had Dobermans growing up. Weird. Really weird.

Gravatar My brother and his partner of 12 years were recently married in the great state of Massachusetts. With that much history behind them, they already had all the household stuff they needed. I found some beautiful vintage blue handkercheifs on line and embroidered them with their shared initial (their names both start with J) and the wedding date. It gave them something old, new and blue all in one swipe.

Gravatar No ideas for a gift just yet, but......OH MY GOD what a cute bunch of pals you have there. I'm giddy with glee just looking at those cute canine faces!!

Gravatar I always have the hardest time trying to think of gifts to make for people. How about making a wine bottle cozy from the latest knitty. You could even fill it with some nice wine. Here is the link

Love the puppy friends pictures. I'll have to send you pictures of my Great Dane with my cat Zoe. Quite the unlikely pair.

Gravatar perhaps they would appreciate a gift certificate to their favorite kennel, so they can honeymoon without worry and at a lesser expense? Or could you donate to SPCA in their names?

Gravatar What a beautiful set of pups! And the little teeeeny white fuzzball...

I suck at coming up with gift ideas so my only two cents is to say that I like Jen's 'granola' wall hanging idea [and the kennel donation idea].

Good luck!

Gravatar Your little panda has such a character-filled little face. What a sweetheart...and yah, don't they just keep layin on the cute and never let up!!
