My boss often says to me I should sell my knitting, she just doesn't get that an item may take me 40-80 hours to knit, and no one could afford to purchase anything I knit if I were to actually try to make a profit from it. I just say it's not about the items, it's a hobby so I can relax, if I was trying to make it into a living it wouldn't be fun anymore.

marnie--
I frequently visit your site. But you don't know me.
I have to agree with you about life moving faster. People want things now. NOW. That is why knitting is wonderful. You can't have it now. So don't even bother to try.
I am a novice. I enjoy the idea that I can create something lovely with my hands. I wish more people had it.

The only good thing about American football is that everyonehas nice butts but that is it. And some people can learn to appreciate the time you put into a knitting priject. The guys at my station certainly have learned.

I don't think you hit curmudgeonville at all. You just made some thoughtful comments and they were interesting.
I seem to get the opposite observations. People think it takes forever to make something and that it requires more attention and focus than it does. So they always seem to come back with "I just don't have time to do something like that."
Gad, that irritates me beyond reason. Like I'm a regular lollygagger who has less important things to do than someone else. Like no one else sits in front of the TV or computer or watches movies and "winds down." At least I'm multi-tasking!
