Looks really good, but I definitely have what could be called an untrained eye. Hope you gave Leo a good "look" for that comment

"They make machines that do that"
Yah, that's what my DH said....and what do I have sitting in my living room right now? A Lendrum spinning wheel (and I"ve been eyeing another one).
Be careful. Be very careful....the slide into the Dark Side is very quick and slippery!

It doesn't look like professionally spun yarn.
That's what makes it better!

Are you doing anything to your roving to make it easier to spin? You can divide it lengthwise into strips -- just pull off a couple of feet from the main body of the roving, kinda pinch it in half, and strip the halves apart. Then repeat a couple of times until you have a thickness of roving that's about twice as thick as a pencil. Try spinning from that (if you haven't already.) Alternately, you can take the main ball of roving and pre-draft it. Go to one end, start gently tugging on the fibers in order to attenuate the roving, gradually moving your hand up the fiber mass. The goal is to end up with a fiber supply that's not as fat as the original ball, and therefore drafts more easily. Easier drafter = easier to spin.
(I apologize if I'm telling you things you already know -- I just started reading here regularly!)

Hi Marnie, Spinning is comparatively easy to learn but takes a lifetime to perfect. It helps to pay attention to your breath. Your fingers will start to remember how to do it, and it will get easier every day.
