I haven't been paying too much attention to this until today. Smith is known to Albertans?? Are you sure, I have never heard of her up here in Edmonton.
I went to all three candidates websites and MY gut tells me Smith is not what will make me switch my vote from Conservative to Wild Rose. I heard at another site (Dave Alberta) that people were signing up to vote for her because she is pro-abortion. It also appears that Liberals support her. Not a good recommendation. Not what an old reformist wants to hear.
Now these might just be rumours, but they do not bode well for a party that wants to replace the Conservatives.
I am not a member of the WRA, nor do I plan to become one, but if Liberals are signing up to support Smith, my vote will stay with the Conservatives. If she is pro-abortion, I will never switch my vote.
Now, find out if those rumours are true, then convince me.

There is only one fact on the table about this: all three candidates are apparently in favour of delisting abortion.

According to Life Site news Ed holds what they call anti-life views, so whats your point Hunter. Diane has unequivocatly stated she wants to end tax payer subsidized abortions, as did Paul Hinman. Who is also pro-life.
The PC party is crawling with Liberals. Most the memberships from Jim Dinning were Liberals. Diane in Glenmore is clearly a Liberal.
Most MLA's in the PC party are Liberals that know they cannot win under that banner. You'll see it soon enough.

I find it interesting that you are acusing the WAP of not being socially conservative enough for you. Ridiculous actually. Do you beleive the PC party are socially conservative? How?
The whole attack from the PC party is going to be those scary social conservatives radicals. So in that sense if your saying Diane is to Liberal, maybe Sean is on to something

Dennis, attacking me for my opinions is not going to win the WRA my vote.
I need the WRA to convince me that they are different. If they support abortion, it's not going to happen.
Now convince me, don't just try to harass me into voting because the Conservative aren't this or that. That doesn't work.
Why should I vote for any WRA candidate? How are they MORE Conservative?

Typical Calgarians! The New Toronto, full of Red Tories and compromise.
Almost no one outside of Calgary knows who Danielle Smith is.
Heck look at the Dyrholm website or his Facebook page. Mark is getting great support in the rural areas.
No one outside of Global, The Edmonton Journal or the Calgary Herald knows who Danielle is. She worked for those media outlets.
The last thing we need is Stelmach in a dress. Smith just speaks better.
If Danielle Smith wins, kiss this party good bye. Danielle does not have the courage to unite the Dyrholm camp behind her.
She would need to reach out to not just Dyrholm, but, Chandler as well and that we all know will never happen. Smith supporters love to attack Dyrholm supporters and I do not see an Olive branch in the future.
As a rural Albertan I support Dyrholm or Morton, never Danielle.
All I can see with a Smith victory is a lot of people staying home and not lifting a finger for her. I do not see attacks or sour grapes, just in-action by a large number of members and relegation of some good workers to the sidelines.
The sad part is the Smith supporters will enjoy the disappoint in others.

Legality of abortion is a 100% federal issue. The only thing the provincial government can do about it is to stop funding it, a move that all three leadership candidates support.
Hunter: I heard at another site (Dave Alberta) that people were signing up to vote for her because she is pro-abortion. It also appears that Liberals support her.
Are you referring to this thread?

If so, it seems pretty obvious that the guy who claimed to be supporting Smith "because she is pro-choice" is actually an opponent of hers who is trying to scare support away from her.
Based on what I've seen, Smith has repeatedly said how she wants the party to be a home for both libertarians and social conservatives. Has Dyrholm said whether libertarians will be welcome under his leadership?

Hunter,
I'm not trying to convince you of anything. Your smart enough that when the time comes you'll figure it out without my help.
I'm pointing out that you are hypocritical. Your reason for voting is Abortion, plain and simple.
I'll simplify for you. Are the PC party against Abortion? They must be because you support them. What policy position or Ed opinion supports your belief that they are against abortion.

Hunter, have you heard of the other people before? I haven't. I am a Calgarian, and I have heard of Ms Smith before, and mostly I like what I've heard. The major stumbling block for me is that I do not want to split the right wing vote and allow a Gliberal to take office. The Wild Rose will have to convince me that they have a chance of winning before they get my vote.
