my wife is into all those home renovation reality shows! Here in the States, we have one she watches regularly called House Rules...

I guess I'm living vicariously -not having enough cash to do my own house, I watch other folk do it instead. Or perhaps I'm just addicted to the "befores" and "afters". What I like is to imagine what I'd do and see if anyone else does it.

I think the "dream factor" is why she watches, too... I just think it's funny... I wouldn't know what to do with a hammer if it hit me! I'm very unpractical like that (see what growing up fatherless does to a guy?... can't fix cars either!)!

ooh...don't believe all you see on our 'reality TV' makeovers. except the over-exhorbitant price of housing in places like Sydney.

Don't believe it that those are "real" Aussies. More like a very carefully chosen group who will be able to be exploited to boost ratings. Which is exactly what did happen! (no more spoilers)

Thanks all!
nile, as a single mom I'm doing it all myself, so my son is going to know how to do it too - including building our dream house by hand from scratch one day! I think that's going to take some hammar-knowledge...
saint -was rather shocked that such small places were valued at $600,000 at the start of the show. For THAT small floor-space? Unbelieveable.
Jan, I hope I run into the "nice" kind of Aussies when we get there!
Bec - I guess your experience is a taste of things to come for us. Looking forward to episode 2 this weekend.
