Although I'm not unhappy in my marriage, I do regret the fact that I didn't spend more time being single. From the age of around 15, I haven't spent more than a couple of months without a partner. I've always kept my independence in terms of having nights out/weekends away with friends and so on but I do think it would have been good for me to have spent more time getting to know myself before I settled down.

Trust me, it is hard being on the verge of 40 and also wondering if you will be a Bostonian spinster with a zillion cats. It sucks.
But, I also find that I seem to run into men when I least expect it -- busy doing the things I love (softball, hanging out with my friends, walking... whatever).
But you know what else? I am pro Angelina. Why?
Because Brad went forth and sought happiness. As well as Angelina.
And to stay in an unhappy relationship should no longer be acceptable. That's what I truly believe...
I too know lots of people who stay in relationships because they are afraid of being single - this is not only stupid (how are you going to meet Mr Right if you're with Mr Right Now?) but also a bit unkind for the other person involved. That said, at the grand old age of 33 it scares me silly to think that I may be on my own for the rest of my days, partly because I'm not willing to compromise! The grass is always greener though, I have friends who are married with kids who desperately envy my single life and its freedom, whereas I would love to be going home from work to bath my baby as opposed to read Marie Claire in the bath with a glass of wine!!!
BTW, how did the final interview go?
I always says that you don't know what goes on behind closed doors. I was single for almost three years and whilst I dated during that time and fell in and out of lust, I refused to submit myself to coupledom for the sake of being part of a pair. I'm glad I was single for so long now as not only am I capable of being happy on my own but I appreciate my relationship now too. I loved being single personally but I'm a selfish single anyway
