The message on the postcard is a note home but doesn't say anything racist. The picture is simply an artistic alteration of a photo of a black child and a watermelon.
The photo is simply a cultural reference. It's not a black child being lynched - it's a black child being silly with a watermelon.
While Arkansas is a fairly racist state, you can interpret it any way you want. And obviously, people have done that.
One more comment - the post is obviously biased toward the right (hint: Gore in fascist garb on a stamp). There's nothing racist about the postcard. The poster / auctioneer simply believes that it will help drive the auction price up if it racist slant is thrown in.
Clinton didn't earn the title "first black president" for nothing. I am disappointed in the Clintons - but I am still proud of their time in the White House in the 90's.

Everyone (except for the three Clinton supporters left in the Democratic party) realizes that this was a racist postcard, and sending it was a mistake. As many are now realizing that the Clintons would do anything to anyone to win, at any cost.

The postcard is racist, in my opinion. But, in fairness to Bill, his "Mammaw" gave him the postcards, so that he would keep in touch while away at college. No doubt, Mammaw had a racist streak, but young Bill was just placating his granny. He should have known better, but in 1966, the entire country was much less sensitive to racial issues than it is today. I give Bill a pass on this one.

Well, in 1966 I wasn't old enough to immerse in the politics of the time (I was in 2nd grade) but I do recall my father's rants against racism.
Bill Clinton was a Georgetown University Junior who graduated in 1968, then he won that fabled "Rhodes Scholarship" to Oxford University. He was a child, sure, but he probably had some judgmental facilities intact (unless they periodically went up in smoke... 
He should have known better. He was in Washington, D.C., he was seeing the country's racial strife closer than 99% of the rest of the nation, and he's looking at that postcard and grinning while licking the stamp.
He should have picked up a postcard of the Lincoln Memorial to go along with that Lincoln stamp, and posted that. He could always plead 'I lost' that racist pack, or something.
UNLESS he really had his own streak of careless racism working, that is.
Given the Blue Dress thingy later in his career, it might be he just didn't care. Thoughtless. I think his overriding mindset is 'good times for me' narcissism...

I - as a (young, white) woman have been empathetic towards other groups my whole life. Once when young I was at a family gathering and heard (extended) family members make racial comments - I took them to task immediately I didn't play along to "make nice". Hey, but then again, I knew the Clinton's had NO CHARACTER almost immediately - I didn't need to have him INSULT me personally before I could recognize or acknowledge a lack of character!

There are much more relevant things going on in the world. Our next President will be a black man. So I don't think this postcard ruined the Civil Rights movement or anything.
The postcard just served to expose Bill Clinton, a bit more than he would've liked. Just a window to his history, and his thoughts.
In itself, the postcard is a collector's curio, it's value set by whatever someone paid for it. Because it hasn't surfaced, I'd guess that this record may be one of the last the public will see of it.
Because, if Bill (or Hillary) bought it back, it will have been destroyed.
But, maybe Obama or someone in his camp bought it...for use as an October Surprise!
