Edwin Update
Less than 10 minutes ago. Puddle said she got a little hand squeeze - the nurse said it would be significant if it were in response to being asked to do so and if it were consistent. Then he showed a little whites of the eye! Exciting!!!! You bet!!!! I had puddle switch to my side of the bed so if he opened his eyes all the way, he's see her and not me. He tried several more times, another hand squeeze...
one more tiny step up the steep hill

Thankful, oh, it got chopped off. Basically, I am going to burn a huge, kitschy Virgin of Guadalupe candle on puddle's zooms table on your behalf because you're every color of the freaking rainbow and I don't know what color candle to light for you because you are all in one.
jeez, I'm so happy, and I know it's but another baby step.

The news about Edwin certainly sounds promising; I send all my best wishes and sincere hopes.
If I may be allowed a bit of personal philosophizing, I don't send petitionary prayers, though. It is one of my deeply held convictions that an aware person cannot fail to realize the endless gifts we receive *despite* our behavior and nature. Whether one prefers to multiply causes beyond necessity or not, it strikes me as the height of selfish ingratitude to ask for even one thing more. So let us give thanks for the undeserved gifts we receive, and desire the best for all.
