They sang that one at Barbara Olson's televised memorial after she died in a plane on 9/11. I had never heard it before, and really liked the song when I did. (Ted Olson's wife, who did right-wing commentating on various shows.)

as for the bbb - if you reread the baiting posts today from Hol Dek, you'll recognise certain phrases and word usage that we've never seen from him, but that we have seen nearly every day for a few years now. holdek's monniker has been borrowed - perhaps someone couldn't deal with his lack of catching anything with his own bait lately. when bbb comes back up, please ignore him.

That's interesting. I was aware of it being played at funerals, but we had it at our wedding. And as I recall, that was a pretty upbeat occasion.
Chickened out of having "Linus and Lucy" by Vince Guaraldi played *in* the church, so we had that one at the reception.

So happy I have some kind of Internet connection here (I'm away for a couple of days) and able to see a positive update. Long way to go I know but Edwin is fighting and puddle is keeping her spirits up, and that is great news.

Still believe in that miracle.

Glad to hear you're OK, Donna! Any cop I've ever talked to has said that if the damage is on the front of *your* vehicle *you* will automatically be considered at fault. She can argue whatever she wants in court or claim that you jumped out in front of her, aliens distracted her, she was blinded by angels, or whatever she wants to her insurance company. But, it doesn't matter to the cop whatever crazy***ed thing the person you hit did. *You* have to assure clear distance ahead of you. Period.

Edwin Update
Between the 2 and 5 visiting hours, the last of the blood pressure meds was stopped, but that didn't fly well, so it's back on. Edwin did try to lift his eyebrows once while we were there, but geez - have you *seen* his eyebrows?! Well, a couple lifts was all we got this time around.
About 5:40 a girl came in with a dinner tray for him! Huh?! She looked at Edwin, checked her paper, yep it had his room number and name. ROFL. Since she had stepped into the room she couldn't take it anywhere else - so I ate the whole thing Salad, roast beef w/ gravy, mashed potatoes, peas & carrots, roll, chocolate 'mousse', and iced-tea. LOL - more than I eat in any one day and not my usual diet to say the least.
The nurse got a good kick out it as well and we all sat and laughed... which got quite a response on the consciousness level monitor. But then so did puddle's singing 'It's a Small World'.

Sounds like Edwin is responding to your presence, even if it's just a little bit. I'll bet he is *very* aware you and puddle are there but the effort to acknowledge it takes so much away from his healing that he's not able to do much.
We all continue to send prayers and loving thoughts and energy to you guys in Texas. Hope you and puddle know you no longer have to worry about the expenses you're incurring. We are all over that!

"On Eagle's Wings" is one of my favs too - have heard it at both weddings and funerals, most memorably when Alison sang it at my gpa's funeral. Anyway, a beautiful song for many occasions

So glad it is the 10th for you. I am also a September baby - the 22nd.
My very favorite-of-all-times boss has a wedding anniversary on 9/11. He joked he never has to worry about forgetting his anniversary again! The kind of macabre humor we all use in order to hide the feelings. He is the most gentle, caring boss I ever had. And he stands up for his employees and takes all the blame for anything we do wrong. Makes us try that much harder not to mess up.
Thankful, so glad to hear another friend will be joining you and puddle at Edwin's side. Every bit of extra love helps!
We all feel so helpless here so far away. Is there anything else we can do for you guys?

Hope you didn't "damage" that other woman's car too much! What a stitch! But so typical these days for people to blame "someone else" other than themselves.
When did people stop taking responsibility for their actions?
Thankful, is a check or paypal better? I don't like to give paypal the 5% or whatever they charge but I know depositing a check and waiting for it to clear is slow. So if faster is better, please let me know and I will do paypal.

Daughter in Ohio had a nice birthday, and appreciates all the birthday greetings. Son in Ohio is catching a nasty cold, which worries me because that sort of thing often *really* throws his behavior out of whack at school. I mean, yes, poor kid, I don't want him to feel bad, but I'm *really* not in a good frame of mind to start getting those urgent calls from the school just now.
And apparently our sewer just backed up, so Demetrius is working on that right now.
Thanks Leslie. The goose egg on my leg seems to have gone down a bit with elevating and icing. I only hurts when I stand too long. By tomorrow it probably will just be a purple colored memory.

Leslie - laundry? LOL - nah, we're ok for a bit yet. So far, we're going day to day and playing it by ear. Mostly it's been a matter of telling the hotel every morning we want another day, and this morning I got the rental car extended til Friday. As we begin to look at something more long-term... who knows. Puddle is likely to have some things that need attention - will get back to you on that. My only real constraint is that I have to get my stuff out of my aunt's basement sooner than later since she just put her house on the market - but it's not an immediate need. There was an article in the paper this morning that really bothered me. It is about the immigration issue. The headline on the story was: "Farmers Sound Call for Help."
The basic premise is that the Immigration Department is doing raids on the farmers just before harvest time and taking all their immigrant workers away. The farmers contacted state officials and reported "They promised they wouldn't go on farms unless there was a violation or a disruption off the farm...But even the presence of immigration is a problem in itself."
So now we are supposed to be sorry for farmers because the illegal immigrants they are hiring are being deported by the Immigration Department? Come on!!!
I'm working on a LTE in my mind for this but haven't got it quite ready yet. Employers of illegal immigrants are the problem. If it weren't for them, the illegals wouldn't have a reason to be here!
I'm also going to do a post at BFA but I've got to work on it a bit. I have a tendency to use hyperbole (hyperbolate?) and Rocky and his alter ego Holdek enjoy jumping all over me to point out that I am 1)ignorant, 2)naive, 3)uninformed and 4) stupid.
Per puddle's request, I have not been responding to these attacks but it is not easy.
