For me, there is always a Cygan who would surpass Gilberto in the negative sense so he is probably not the least popular. Cole should be excluded, he is no longer considered part of the team until this whole saga ends.
Gilberto was our best passer last season? Seriously? I am impressed.
I think he is at his best when he keeps things simple because he simply does not have enough skill to do the complicated things. He is better in CL games because the opponents play at slower tempo, thus allowing him to make better decision.
In any case, I notice that he often score that all important goals in matches where others just fail to score. So I appreciate that. But I stick to my opinion that we need a tough tackling holding midfielder with decent ability to bring the ball into opposition area and Gilberto is not one.
