you faster make a palme d'or winner lah!

Gravatar This is really just my humble opinion, but I think we should focus on the actual films themselves and not be too preoccupied with festivals and awards. Perhaps it's healthy to ask ourselves why we're making films in the first place. For awards and fame? For posterity? We can't take awards and fame with us when we go. And posterity is only for this temporary life.

Arts competitions are a contradiction in terms and should be treated with cynicism. Wanting to win the Palme D'or is not unlike wanting the approval of your class teacher back in school. What is your opinion now of that class teacher?

Gravatar NEXT STOP SHOULD BE OSCAR.
AFTER THAT A MALAYSIAN DIRECTING TRANSFORMER 3.

DOWN WITH THE INDIES. BORING DEPRESSING 90 MINUTES STILLS.
FORGET ABOUT TSAI MING LIANG. HE SHOULD BE TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS INSTEAD. WHY ALL THE CHINESE FILM DIRECTORS COPY A CRAP STILL PHOTOGRAPHER?

GUA SHAO HUA WILL LEAD US THERE. GUA FOR OSCAR.

Gravatar i dunno...watching these artsy fartsy malaysian indie movies make me feel like watching turtles fucking...interesting concept but you get bored to tears within 15 minutes.

i hope one day soon these artys fartsy folks will move away from making turtle fucking movies and make proper 'mainstream' movies with brain so that people like me can enjoy.

you guys would do well to follow the the example of say, the coen brothers...

Gravatar "turtle fucking movies"

now that's a new one! i haven't heard them described that way.
