I want to keep the thing stirring, now that the ice is broken. ~Sojourner Truth

i want to hear your class testimony. i think personal accounts are so interesting. who you be my love? what you got to tell?

so good to see you when you were here...

love!

Gravatar jalylah,
as someone who was at the panel i still feel this area of class and rage needs to be explored further.

i spoke to you briefly afterwards and i mentioned that it's kind of resisting being put in a box. anything that resists that narrative is very important.

however i can understand your trepidation on revisiting the theme, the truth is more and more people need to be exploring it as well. i think this is where daphne brooks' 'where were you 5 years ago!' comment comes from.

i personally as someone who was born in the UK, but now lives as an African-Canadian, find some parallels in 'black atlantic' discourses, for lack of a better phrase, where the authenticity of the black experience is also interrogated.

i think anything that increases the complexity of the black experience (like the papers on the panel) are invaluable and important work.

and yep, joshua alston's paper was funny as hell.

Gravatar are you putting your paper online? come on--the more the better!

Gravatar i would love to read some or any of your papers...

Gravatar paper's coming... i want to scan it and post it but i'm not certain of how to do that yet and i'm on another deadline.

but in the meantime i sent it to Daphne for her to upload to girl group

Gravatar Hey J. Looks like a great book. I am definitely going to pick this up...
