1 - I'd recommend the Z470xi - an almost unbelievable range of features |
If the two and a half year old anachronism works, why get another one? Are there any new features you actually *do* need? Personally I just want something that will let me: a) Receive calls b) Make calls c) Send SMS (rarely) As such, I don't see any need to replace it unless it actually breaks. Whenever I get phoned up by people offering to sell me a new mobile, I always ask them just what they think I'm talking to them on. |
You have willing volunteers DG like those animals in the forest (Snow White) I will do the washing up (one task each) |
Computer monitor - I have given all old computers, monitors etc to Computeraid International, http://www.computeraid.org/ they used to be just down the road from me in Holloway, but have recently moved. The equipment is refurbished and sent to schools in developing countries - mostly Africa I think. A very worthwhile charity. |
But I thought you just bought an emergency band phone? You broke it already going to Norwich? |
And I've already told you the best (ie most hassle free, reliable, and reasonably priced) place to get contact lenses. |
4) Get prescription, go online 11) Leave outside front door - in London it will be gone in hours, if not minutes |
7) Leave it there, you are better off without it. dg writes: I only want it back for sentimental reasons and to complete the pair. I never actually use the white stuff, so that cellar's still got the same salt inside as it did 25 years ago. |
15) I live alone too and never close the bathroom door (or any door apart from the front door) but I thought that I was a bit weird. I need to hoover that bit too. I find it odd to have to remember to close the door when I have people round. |
16. The charity shop on Roman Road is always happy to receive unwanted plastic bags to put purchased stuff in - that's where all mine go. |
Spooky. I've got mobile phone replacement and good re-writable CD's on my list too. I'm waiting until April for the new Sony Ericsson K810 to come out - 3.2 megapixels with touch up effects and photo-to blog function, music player, radio. http://www.sonyericsson.com/.../ver=4000 |
1) Yes, I can recommend SonyEricsson's too - fantastic battery life, nice interface, and you can ignore those irrelevant "Walkman" features... |
my favourite opticians is 20/20 on Tottenham Court Road. |
Sony Ericssons have great features. Unfortunately, in my experience of using 3 different models, they're rubbish *phones*. All the technical geekery worked a charm, and they certainly took better pictures than any other mobile I've used. But voice quality was spotty and the UI was clunky. So I went back to being a Nokia whore. (also ignoring the fact that Sony pissed me off enough that I will never buy another of their products again) |

Re: Contact lenses, online really is the way forward. I also use daily disposables and I get mine from Visiondirect.com. Since it's based in North America, you don't have to provide them with a recent prescription, like you do with those online businesses based in the UK. I've just reordered 6 months supply (ie 4 boxes totalling 360 lenses) of Focus Dalies and paid approx £75 including shipping. I have a code you can use for a 15% discount if you like. It's SEE15 and it is valid until 18/03/07. |
Oliver - that sounds great, except that VisionDirect do seem to insist on seeing a prescription, which I don't have. Will ship once your prescription has been verified. |
don't you have a wife ? |
I'm expecting an update to this later with more items crossed out. Right... Right ??? |
Yes Geoff, but it might take me a while. |
I'll come and dust & polish your keyboard and monitor for you D.G., Geoff you probably have your own list to attend to! |
Oh dear- I have just looked behind my bathroom door. |
The other problem with ordering goods from abroad worth more than £18 (?) is that if customs grab the parcel, you'll pay import duty. Which makes it expensive. Plus, if things go astray in transit, you're into a never-ending loop and waste hours trying to get someone to take responsibility for your non-receipt. Unless it's more than £100 your credit card company won't help either. PostOptics are the best Value I've found. Was I no. 8? |
CDs? Good god man get a DVD writer. I got a Sony external DVD writer for 90 squids from Amazon. Get CD/DVD/etc here; http://svp.co.uk/index.php |
Re: Visiondirect- While the site says that it will only ship your order once your prescription is verified, I think that only applies to North American customers. I've been ordering from them for a couple of years now and have just placed another order, but have never had to provide them with a copy of my prescription. |
