I think your analysis is fair, but you are missing one key point: Tony Blair has been the most efficient enemy Conservatives have every known.

He has stayed one step ahead of them all the time, trumping their policies and seducing their natural voters with infuriating success.

the Tories cannot get back into power while Blair is doing their job for them. But there is a hope for the Tories: Gordon Brown!

When it comes to public services, Brown believes in the state, Blair believes in the market. This is the biggest divide in UK politics. So when Brown becomes PM out will go Blairs choice agenda. Those wanting to continue the "choice" agenda will have to vote Tory.

England is not Scotland, in England people don't have ideological beliefs like people in Scotland do, thats why there is little to interupt Labours 1000 year Reich in Scotland.

But in England voters will not tolerate failure, and Browns shift to a socialist agenda will give the Tories the chance to recapture Downing Street.

While I think I know what you mean, you'd have to unpack this statement a little: the point about public services is that they are provided out of the public purse because the market, left to its own devices, can't provide them.
