Good analysis.
I recently commented on the Dude's site that those who achieve power by revolution know the risks of letting dissent get out of hand and are always quick to surpress any opposition. Your comparison with Tiananmen is spot on, although likely to happen quicker.

Then there is the point that Mir-Hossein Mousavi is not a worthy repository for dissent against the regime. His previous political form was not distinguished by its liberalism nor its toleration of dissent and there was little in his election platform to suggest that a Mousavi Presidency would have meant anything more than cosmetic changes to the face that the Islamic Republic presented to both its citizens and the rest of the world.
While Mousavi is a regime insider and probably not a liberal in the Western sense of the term, can there be any real doubt that reformers such as him, Rafsanjani, Montazeri and Khatami are better for Iran and the world than hardliners such as Khamenei and Ahmadinejad?
I say no.
