Gravatar when i was younger i tried to go out with a jewish girl. ros. i say tried as after a few dates i was introduced to her father, having been invited overnight, and when he found out i was not jewish he simply told to leave the house, at 10pm or thereabouts in finchley in london. i was up at oxford and managed to catch the last 190 home. up to that time dinner had been stilted and quiet but pleasant.
religious intolerance is a two way street. or maybe a 4 street intersection!
and i respectfully suggest the above actions show your audience that i am not anti-semitic. well at least as long as they are pretty and good company. (sorry)
i find many actions of the israeli government offensive, as i do other governments in the region.
does that make me anti-semitic? no. does it make me anti israel i government yes?
does it make me anti-extreme islamic governments yes
does it make me anti- arab. no, of course not.
we blend the people, culture, religion, and country into the question regarding anti-semitism.
maybe many people do not understand the difference, ergo thinking jews are bad as they have caused trouble in the middle east and caused lots of wars which would therefore by the same analogy not have taken place otherwise.
it is not people we should generalise about, it is the governments, although some maligned people could act less like they are following a foreign government policy of isolationism, particularly in finchley!

Gravatar Great post Shuggy.

Gravatar OT, but what do you make of this story, Shuggy?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifean...ucation- society

Gravatar 1. There are those who criticise Israel for its actions;

2. There are those who criticise Israel for being a Jewish state;

3. There are those who criticise Israel for existing at all;

4. There are those who criticise Jews citing the actions of Israel as the reason for their criticism;

5. There are those who criticise Jews citing the mere existence of Israel as the reason for their criticism;

6. There are those who criticise Jews for universally nefarious practices and characteristics that they consider to be particularly concentrated in Israel;

In practice there is very little clear distinction, between these various positions, listed here in some kind of order of reasonableness, and what lies beyond them.

Dunno - what were you wondering? They had an Asberger's unit at my last school. Pupils in it ranged from quite mild to - and I hope no-one thinks I'm being frivilous here - exhibiting Rain Man-type symptoms and were traumatized by the slightest change to routine. My experience of Asberger's pupils was overwhelmingly positive. The young man in question here also has excellent taste in guitars.

Gravatar I was wondering about the teachers who (allegedly) objected to "special needs" treatment of a clever Asperger's pupil.

Ach, I dunno. My instinct is to say, fuck 'em - haven't they got anything else to worry about?
