Some of that is familiar from my eight year old lad. Not the girlfriend problems though, at least not that he tells me, and I don't think he's heard of Buck Cherry, though he likes Chuck Berry. I still have some influence!

So...
-a reluctance to get out of his bed in the morning;
- girlfriend problems;
- the development of a slight attitude (disinterest in what you're saying is dismissed with a "whatever");
- listening to loud rock music...
Dunno about you, but if my son started behaving like this, it's be 'learned behaviour'
I wanted my son to learn the words to 'Tomorrow Belongs To Me' from Caberet so it would really freak his teachers out, but he's started to be able to spot when his dad is setting him up...

Misuse of "disinterest", I fear.

Buck Cherry were interviewed on Australian telly at the time that stupid cocaine song was released. The interviewer said 'yeah, really clever Spoonerism there -- Chuck Berry, nyuk, nyuk' to which the dolt of a singer responded 'duhhhhh -- eh?'
