I'm trying to imagine anyone asking for a divorce, being told "no" and accepting that answer.
Has it been considered that the life expectancy in Glasgow East is short enough that Mr Salmond's "Once in a generation" and Mr Mason's "Are you free next Tuesday?" approach to referenda may actually coincide...
Especially when you consider the number of people who will be amateurishly gouging their own eyes from their skulls if they see Annabel Goldie in a leotard.

Referenda have always been the tools of dictators - but just occasionally they miscalculate and they go wrong for them - one brought down Pinochet in Chile for example.
