We're stuffed. The people are stuffed. The Tories will get in and then people will realise that New Labour are nothing like Tories. And I'm afraid that I do blame Brown (and the rest of Scottish Labour) for not showing why Labour is on the side of ordinary folk. It was the Pre Budget Report that did it for me. Could have used the chance to fix (ie reverse the scrapping of) the 10p tax rate. Darling knew it was waiting to blow up. Instead we have the spectacle of Labour introducing Tory policy on inheritance tax. Why? Why? The election was never going to take place till 2010. So why waste the opportunity to fix a (known) problem in favour of aping the Tories? I'm still a Party member (though my membership renewal form has just come through the post) but I despair at the moment.

That's it - you're right. Blair made a reference to Dennis Skinner at party conference that sums this up. I forget the form of words. Something like, "Dennis never agreed with what I said, or what I did - but never failed to understand the difference between a Labour government and a Conservative one."
Was that the Dennis Skinner who was having adulterous nookie with a duchess (or whatever her rank was)? That bastion of Socialist Morality?
