Sorry but I take the view that smiley faces originated in the bowels of Hades.
The ‘British’ always used to remind me of some large families with several brothers. They would often have an argument amongst themselves over points of contention within the family – but if an outsider poked his nose in they would all turn on him.
Professional Scotsmen, or indeed Englishmen, Welshmen, or Irishmen are as irritating as professional ‘offended’ people.
It would be a shame to break something that has actually served us all quite well, as these things go over the centuries. Look at what happened to much of Europe over the same period, where would you have wanted to live, Britain, or Poland, France, the Balkans, Russia, Germany? If you wanted a relatively prosperous safe quiet existence then Britain would be the answer.
As for Smiley faces… don’t even go there.
I enjoy telling my friends back in Glasgow that if Scotland does gain independence I'll be first in the queue for an English Passport
