Aye Shuggy - and nobody bothers to mention the real reason there has to be a by-election in the first place.

Yep. And obviously the massive increase in poverty and unemployment in the 80s was due to a collapse in choice-making ability among the working classes. I blame the liberal media.

Oh. I'm afraid I used an even broader brush than usual to paint them.
Labour have heartily detested their working class voters for quite a while. No one who spends any time in a working mens club or bingo hall, for example, would think a smoking ban could do anything but help close them.
At last Labour's contempt is being returned with interest.
