They seem determined to prevent a referendum don't they? You don't suppose this might be because they have a nasty feeling that they won't like the answer?

Of course, here in England we regularly have our democratic wishes over-ruled, so Welcome to the Club.

It seems to me that Scots have the following voting choices:
(a) Vote Labour, Get Labour
(b) Vote Tory, Get Labour
(c) Vote Lib Dem, Get Labour

or (d) Vote SNP

Do us all a favour, Vote SNP and give them an absolute majority. Set us both free from our "British" overlords!

A summary of Labour thinking on Scottish independence:

Scottish independence would harm Labour's chances of getting a majority in Westminster. That would, obviously, be disastrous for Britain ergo Scottish independence would be disastrous for Britain.

Do you really think they give a crap for any other reason?

Shuggy is right. We have done ok for ourselves when we all pulled together.

I suspect this really is a case of together we stand divided we fall - or at least don't do as well in the long run as we would have.
