Tell me about your mother....

Gravatar What a beautiful story. As long as there are at least a few citizens who view society as your grandfather did, we will endure. Thank you.

Gravatar Thank you.

Neither of mine was even a tenth as nice--in teaching or in practice.

This is good to hear. I hope it was good to tell.

God bless.

Gravatar Gracias, Miguel. You are- and have been- very kind.

Gravatar Absolutely beautiful memory. Thank you for sharing it. He would be very proud of you. Somehow, I think he IS.

Gravatar Thank you, very much.

Gravatar This is a great post - It's so important to remember the decency of others and if possible emulate it. Reminders like this are worthwhile

Gravatar Thank you for this very touching story.

Gravatar Very nice. Very powerful. Great piece.

Gravatar Wonderful story, thanks.

Gravatar Your memory was lovely and it reminded me of my own grandmother who took me on similar "adventures" to help others--we always ended up at the movies after. Like your grandfather for you, she had a similar impact on my life. Thanks

Gravatar What a beautiful story! Thank you so much for sharing it. You are a lucky person to have had someone like that in your life.

Gravatar You're right - he was a great man. You are lucky to have known such a man, and far luckier yet to have had him as your grandfather.

I hope you are saving this essay for your daughter.

It's such an irony that the best way to teach a child to respect himself is to teach him to respect others, but that's how it works. Your grandfather was a great, great teacher.

Such a man changes everything around him. He is like a pebble thrown into an ocean, but the ripples become waves instead of dying out.

Gravatar Thank you.

Gravatar Incredibly beautiful - gift upon gift upon gift.

Gravatar It goes to show that caring is not enough. Action is what really makes the difference.

Gravatar Wow. Thank you.

Gravatar Jeeeeez, now my eyes are watering. Must be smoke in the air. Jeeeeez!

Gravatar Reminds me of the story of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples during the last supper. This is a story to print out, place into one's wallet, and pull out whenever some mean spirited thoughts invade our psyche. Whenever we conspire to cause or create harm to anyone else. For this story will melt our hearts, and soothe our souls, and may, just prevent us from making a mistake we will surely regret.

I only wish I knew my grandfather as well as you knew yours. Mine were either far away in Texas, or had passed away years earlier, in Arizona. I only hope I can provide my son/daughter and their sons/daughters with these types of lessons. Your Grandfather was truly rich beyond all notion of wealth, because he knew the true value of humanity.

God bless

Gravatar Great story. Thank you for sharing.

Gravatar A very touching story. Both my grandfathers had passed away about a year before I was born, but I loved my maternal grandmother as you loved your grandfather. And when it was time for her to die she was still teaching me. She showed me there should be no fear and only look forward to the beginning of a new life. I bet your grandfather taught you while he was dying also. God bless.

Gravatar Thank you for this beautiful memory of yours.

What a gift you have given us.

Gravatar Sometimes a great truth will bring tears to our eyes by its simple beauty.
If I become half the man your grandfather was I will die happy.
Thank you.

Gravatar You are a lucky man.

I hope you send this post to The Readers Digest. It deserves all the readers it can get.

Share the pleasure.

Gravatar Very well written and beautiful...thanks, SCA.

Kelly
