SC&A:
It's really rather odd, y'know.
These memes grow like gangbusters in the "greenhouse", but when they try planting them in American soil, they quickly turn to compost.
So, an opposition party insists on restricting its' gig to the "studio audiences" of academia, NGO's, and Moonbat blogz, and choose to denigrate and demonize everyone who would prefer not to join their "tent revival".
Is it any wonder that they lose elections?
How long will it take before the Democrats figure that out?
And will they do what it takes to appeal to the voters if and when they DO awaken to the Cluebat?

the Washington post comment mess is a fair example of how they deal with opposing view points.
One of two things need to happen, either the mainstream democrats have to disassociate themselves from such behavior, or get those behaving that way to understand they aren't helping.
It's a compounding problem as well, because it discourages reasoned debate, so when they have the opportunity to make some ground that way, they don't have any experience with doing so.
But it is good material for the funny.
