So true! I don't give a rat's ass what they think, believe, wish as long as they remain peaceful Once they step over the line and become violent or threatening, I wish them defeat. Total defeat.
Screw 'em!
Sorry, that wasn't very diplomatic, was it?

While I would love to believe that this is blind, ignorant, "terminal uniqueness" on the part of the Muslims, I fear that it is instead a strategy to 1) take the Iranian nuclear issue off the front page, and 2) to set up the multicultural mushy-headedness that will allow sharia law to plant it's thorny little tendrils into democracies.
And the liberals and oh-so-tolerant enlightened ones will fertilize it.
This is one of many ways Isamofascists will use the freedoms afforded by democracies to destroy those democracies.

Having just read Michelle Malkin's post enumerating the increasing number of submissions and apologies in response to this ridiculous uproar, I am beginning to despair that anyone cares about the truth and common sense anymore.
I think we can make all the clarion calls that we want. No one in the mainstream or in power is listening. We are the marginalized in this situation. The only people standing up for the JP are those all too easily dismissed as the fringe. Meanwhile all the respectable papers in the two countries in which freedom of the press was first won, the UK and the US, have refused to print the cartoons and have bought the muslim party line that limit of speech should be drawn where islam demands that it be drawn.
Welcome to Wonderland folks.

We are now living in a world where people living in supposedly free societies are forced to abide by the customs od a faith not their own because the memvers of that faith will destroy who ever offends them.
The bullies are winning and there isnt the will to stop them anywhere in the world.
Sorry to be so glum but I doubt even the blogosphere has rhe power to stop this. I think our powerlessness is now being revealed. What can a blog do except complain when the Supreme Court of SA upholds an injunction against the printing of the cartoons and another paper apologizes for printing quotes from the Satanic Verses?
The truth is a non-issue in this case. While the muslim street riots, the silky voiced "moderate" muslim spokesmen, through the peaceful means of the media, have completely succeeded in rewriting the narrative. The party line is now that while the violent protests are wrong, the publication of the cartoons in the first place was 1) that the insult was an intentional and gratuitous act by a "right-wing" paper and 2) that the line of free speech should be drawn so to avoid inflaming the passions of others.
They are succeeding in recasting the debate. The question in the mainstream is not unlimited free speech vs limited free speech. Its all about where the limits on free speech should be placed. The idea that it should be limited has already been conceded!

One last thing,
I've been hearing these silky, soft voiced men of "peace" suggesting that no religion should be offended as if that makes their suggestion more reasonable. No one sees the slight of hand. Not even NPR objected to just such a comment. It sounds so reasonable and fair doesnt it. It sounds like a carrot to other religious conservatives to back up islamic claims to a right to protection from insult.
Pretty soon the blogs will also have to post Piss Christ to defy the new self-censorship creedo.

I never thought that I would say it but I would actually defend Piss Christ now. I understand like I never have before how important it is to live free of the restrictions of a faith or code not your own.
Yes, folks, even now the muslims are trying to paint themselves as the righteous victims here who would never insult anyone's religion and who would protest anyone depicting Jesus or Moses in a satirical way. Just guess how many people are likely to fall for it.

"If indeed the west is so offensive to Muslims, why do so many aspire to come here? "
Because they were sent as part of a stealthy colonisation proposed by those striving for Dar al Islam?
Only the gullible Westerners think that it is because of the material benefits they have conjured up and adorned by " alien spiritual concepts" that attracts these newcomers.
If that were the case the intense effort made to live under sharia would not exist in the US nor Europe. Once free they would have made every effort to distance themselves from their past.

Cynic,
I used to debate muslims at a site called Soundvision which appeared moderate in its webzine form but was quite radical on its discussion boards.
I was told several times that we were being colonized.
I believe that islamic religious leaders in muslim countries are telling people that there is special merit in moving to non-muslim countries and working to make them islamic.
Muslims have to earn their salvation and working to make the world muslim is part of that, so this is not exactly a stretch. I took them at their word when I started to see them "working" to impose islamic rules of conduct on others whereever they are found through exploiting the West's culture of respect for all faiths.
I would have never believed such a paranoid thing before, but reality caused me to change my mind about a lot of things.

It's odd, but isn't the behavior they are exhibiting just like a temper tantrum of a 2 year old ? When is it ever a good idea to cave to bad behavior?

Listen to you all.
Osama Bin Laden has you wrapped around his little finger.
This is not '1939', it's '1929'. The Brownshirts are a long way off majority support, so they need to generate anger and paranoia in their own communities. Undiscriminating, uninformed hyperbole that characterises all Muslims as Islamo-fascists is exactly the response they're looking for.
