Unlike so many of my fellow right wing cranks and nutjobs, I never could get too worked up about the illegal immigration from Mexico. Why? Look at what is going on in Europe. The problem with Europe is that it is committing ethnic suicide. In Italy, Spain, France, and Russia, the only people having babies any more are the muslim minorities. Dispite the relatively minor social dislocations that the Mexicans impose on the rest of us, they are inoculating us against the European disease of demographic suicide. The Mexicans (along with us religious red state right wing crank nutjobs) are fertile and will ensure that the USA will be a vital society well into the new century. To paraphrase the French King Francis I, I believe, The USA is worth a Mexican combination plate.

Can we get this in the NYT and WSJ? How about CNN, ABC, and Al Jazeera? This post is the best description of America that I've ever seen: plain talk, common sense, and compassion.

All this time I assumed you guys were metro-sexuals. I stand corrected!
No scheiss - Mamacita trumps the Pope!
This missive is so succinct, it hurts. Thanks for the sorely needed reminder to remain optimistic!

The mongrel is usually more physically vigorous than the purebreed. I relish the label of Mongrel! LOL
Good post, Siggy! I am not in total agreement with you in this - I feel in this day-and-age we need control of our borders. So I do not welcome dark-of-the-night interlopers sneaking 'cross the borders. But I give you kudos for the complete destruction of self-satisfied bigotry and silliness coming from both sides.
Damn you. :p
I hate it when you're right, y'know.

"Further, we are smarter than you, better looking than you and the object of desire of m fabulous and good looking women."
"in theMidwest"
"Now, pay attention lefties and stop touching yourselves. Your as racist and bigoted as any on the left."
"They want o get educated"
"Show us a parent who is truly concerned abouteducating their children and you'll find an adult insulted that that they would be paid for doing what they are supposed to do."
"Just because some little anglo bimbo named tiffanyis impressed with your ability to recite nursery rhymes in Spanish and pass it it off as literature, is irrelevant."
"There was an mother, grandmother, aunt or cousin to keep you in line- and they didn't have to be related to you."
These are only the 'typos' that I picked up quickly on my second pass through this long post. SC&A, It pains me to say this, really, because essentially I am in agreement with most all your views (and certainly, in agreement with The Anchoress) and most often I love what you write. But the errors and tone of this make me question your sobriety when you wrote it.
Please - restate (soon!) the ideas you're trying to present here, even if only to vent frustrations with the idiocy apparent on all sides of the immigration issue. They're worthy and need stating. But please do it without denigrating your readers.

Thank you for coming by, Joe. You are of course, always welcome.
Now, here's the deal. As my regular readers know, I rarely if ever, edit. What is annoying to you is endearing to many readers.
With one exception, I have been sober when posting. I'm not much of a drinker to begin with, but in the interest of full dislosure, I prefer gin and tonic (ONLY with Tanqueray or Bombay) as my mixed drink of choice.
My taste in beer is more plebian- I'll have a Sam Adams, and when that isn'y available, I like Red Dog. I know, I know.
Finally, as to my tone, longtime readers recall that for quite a while, SC&A was a rant blog- albeit far more intelligent and cutting than most. I have migrated away from that format for any number of reasons, not the least of which was I was beginning to get bored.
In any event, eyeyamwhatiam!

Typos are a blogger's curse. I'm usually obsessive enough to change mine if I think I'm going to have to look at the post again, but then I straighten rugs and lampshades, too.
The diff. between now and then is the wide open borders. The lawlessness breeds contempt. It's also a HUGE outsourcing of money, now between 20 and 30 bln a year leaving the country.
I also deeply resent the fat cats who are using these people as slaves. They are not an immigrant class, they're a permanent peasant class, something we never had before...yeah, some are moving up but not nearly enough.
I think we need to be serious about our borders in the same way an individual needs to protect his sense of self from untoward invasion. Vicente Fox is cynical in his use of our spinelessness. Personal and national sovereignty are essential.
Earlier migrations were not people arriving in a nanny state and bankrupting the social framework -- medical, educational, and cultural. There was a driving desire to acculturate (except for the French, who kept speaking their language for generations) and a patriotism that doesn't exist among many of the Mexicans...
...perhaps we should invade Canada and settle there. Can't do Mexico because they *DO* have a sense of sovereignty and will shoot your ass.
I want a wall. I want Israelis to come over here and build it because we're too sissy to do it.
And I want twenty thousand troops called up, just like the IDF did when they went in to "peacify" Gaza.
Heck, I'll even donate bricks. Let's make this a countty-by-county decision. Eagle Scout project coming up? Work on the wall -- done deal.
Just saying'....

I have to concur with Dymphna. Those who're looking at this through a misty Ellis Island veil of nostalgia for previous immigrant groups and how they fit into the population need to re-assess.
The Hispanic illegal alien of today has little need to assimilate and too often doesn't. The numbers are too great to allow this to happen, society doesn't demand it and sometimes deliberately works against it.
Those are the facts and they don't have anything to do with bigotry.

Hey,
I normally agree with you a 100%, on this one we gotta part company.
Immigration -- yes!
Illegal immigration -- No!
There are huge differences between those coming here legally to be a part of this country and those coming here to make some dough and go back...home.
That's the distinction to me, and I live in a large city as well. My neighborhood is about 80% Hispanic and it's assumed about 40% of that number are illegal immigrants.
If somebody wants to come here and be a part of this country I will back them to the hilt. If someone wishes to come, extract cash, and then return to the place they call home, I don't want them here in the first place. I think it's damaging to this country.
I could go on in this vein but will refrain. I will mention one thing, you say we won't become Mexico? Do me a favor and look up Maywood Ca.
Nice rant, if only it were true.

It ain't racism or bashing the bleedin' papists, fer cryin' out loud. It is in part security, and it is in part playin' by the rules. I have a Japanese friend who has been in line for a green card for three years, but 12 million or so folks have jumped in line ahead of him. Maybe we just shouldn't have any immigration laws, eh?
SC&A: We have more to say, but as it is, this post is too long. Our next post will address those of you that aren't happy the President of the United States isn't responding to your selfish and narcissistic needs.
Now that post is for me! That is exactly why I'm not happy!
