Sigh. We Hispanics would face less discrimination if your white guilt Welfare State were abolished. Yes, I said your Welfare State because its construction and maintenance is a joint project of the left and right wings of America's White Establishment.
Hurry, because America's time is running out. Soon too much of Brown America will be hooked on OPM* as badly as Black America already is. Many of us were here to greet your ancestors when they arrived here in the West and if the "reparations" nonsense jumps from a certain large segment of Black America and infects the more numerous Brown America, the results for all in the U.S.A. will be very sad indeed.
A Welfare State is incompatible with a Constitutional Republic.
* Other People's Money; the acronym is pronounced in a way that sounds like the word "opium", another mind-altering and motivation-killing drug and one nearly as addictive as OPM.

Just observing one area (Northern Virginia), I'd have to say that many if not most of the Hispanic immigrants who take advantage of various kinds of aid and concessions do so in order to get a leg-up - not to become permanent welfare clients. (As in every population, some are more active and entrepreneurial than others.)
In deciding what benefits to grant to newly-arriving immigrants, we should study how previous immigrants have made use of those benefits. If they have, by and large, used aid to become productive members of the community, then that aid should continue. If they have simply arrived here and gone on the dole, then other measures should be contemplated.
At least in this area, Hispanics are some of the hardest-working people I've ever seen. I hope that doesn't change.
